FAQs

CIPSS stands for Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist.

  • CIPSS are specially trained individuals who support others in the recovery process.
  • CIPSS are distinguished from traditional recovery coaches as the State of Maine requires they receive more extensive training and continuing education in both mental health and substance use.
  • CIPSS must be in long-term recovery from a mental health or substance use issue themselves.

Together Place employs the most CIPSS in Northern and Eastern Maine.

There is no cost to become a Together Place member or join a peer recovery group. By design, Together Place does not require paperwork to join any group or session. To participate, someone need only walk through the door.

By design, Together Place does not require paperwork to join any group or session. However, anyone is welcome to become a member and fill out a short membership application. All programs are free of charge.

By becoming a member, you are given the opportunity to empower yourself through recovery groups. Members can participate in Vocational Preparedness, which helps prepare you for school or employment. Vocational Rehabilitation gives you the opportunity to work in a diner, earn your ServSafe certification, learn to provide janitorial services, and more!

Additionally, members are offered recreational activities such as pool, Wii bowling, chess, crafts, and more. We also have a very reasonably priced diner with coffee, soda, and lunches (EBT accepted!)

Give us a call or send us an email. One of our CIPSS would be happy to have a one-on-one conversation with you to determine if this is the right program for you.
